John 14:25-27 (New International Version)
25"All this I have spoken while still with you. 26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
----------So how do you hear the voice of the Holy Spirit? What exactly does the Spirit sound like? It will take some time to recognize it, but the clearest way to know if you're hearing from God is to listen for him in Scripture. Here Jesus told us the Holy Spirit would remind us of all the things Jesus said. We find those things revealed in God's Word. So when you're in a situation and suddenly Scripture comes to mind, you're most likely hearing the Holy Spirit. But in order for the Spirit to remind us of Scripture, we have to know Scripture.
Reading our Bibles every day puts us in a great place to make sure we'll hear from the Holy Spirit. Do you read your Bible every day?
Has God ever spoken to you reminding you of Scripture?
Ask God to remind you of things he wants you to know today.
